Gertie Zeiter is drawn to the unique characteristics of glass: its transparency and feel, the way it plays with light. She finds inspiration in the natural coastal world around her, combining these elements into somewhat abstract forms. Nature and art: a magical combination!
These coral-inspired bowls are created by painstakingly pouring glass powder in the desired pattern, then using the heat of the kiln to draw the particles together via surface tension. The process is repeated several times to create the desired structure.
