Sheryl has been felting for over 12 years, and has learned from top felters around the world. She employs a variety of techniques in her wet-felted garments, including hand-painting and hand-dyeing her materials, stitching, and adding subtle embellishments such as buttons.
Artist Statement:
"Collage" – from the French coller, "to glue or stick together" – is a technique of art creation in which an assemblage of different forms creates a new whole. This technique, combined with felting, is my signature and my passion. I spend endless hours creating patterns and designs on silk using inks, paints, and dyes. I then cut them in shapes and combine them with felting to create these beautiful, one-of-a-kind garments
